- Description: Washer stopped draining during wash or rinse. When not draining, pump makes grinding sound. Checked drain filter, found lots of debris clogging filter. Cleaned it. Used a small hose next to filter plug on front of machine to drain machine and cycle continued. Possible clogged or broken drain pump or blocked drain in back. Water on garage floor but possibly due to attempt to drain by pulling out filter plug, spilling much water on floor before I discovered small drain hose and flat trash pail allowing controlled manual drain of machine.
